ABOUT US

Where art meets the city

Emerson Contemporary is focused is on presenting living artists, their ideas, experiments, and creative practices in the areas of media art, performance art, and emergent technologies, while critically examining these works in their social context. Our in-depth engagement with the temporary exhibitions and related public programming is based on the principle that artistic practice is an intellectual activity and works of art are a unique form of knowledge production. Furthermore, we believe that art is essential in society as it creates dialog, asks questions, and brings people together. At Emerson Contemporary we believe that art, in fact, can help change society.
