The Emerson Contemporary Media Art Gallery debuts artworks in a variety of media by the internationally recognized South African artist William Kentridge relating to an ambitious mural project in Rome (2016). Triumphs and Laments is a 550-meter long mural stenciled onto the embankment of the Tiber River with 51 figure groupings representing a procession across Roman history’s tragedies and accomplishments. The exhibition highlights the monumental prints relating to the mural that Kentridge made in collaboration with Artist Proof Studio and David Krut Projects in Johannesburg.
